BACKGROUND

Dr. McCormick graduated from the University of Montana-Missoula with her PhD in 2010.  She has worked as a therapist since 2005 treating children, adolescents, adults, and families in Western Montana.  For her specialized training she worked for a year at a nationally recognized trauma center affiliated with Primary Children's Medical Center in Salt Lake City treating children and adolescents affected by trauma, abuse, and/or neglect.  Dr. McCormick also received specialized training and experience helping parents overcome parenting challenges that may have influenced conflict or risk for abuse in the home.   For her post-doc residency, Dr. McCormick spent two years at a residential treatment facility treating adolescents and families.  Currently, Dr. McCormick is working full-time as a Staff Psychologist for the Montana VA Healthcare System at the VA Community Outpatient Clinic in Kalispell.  Prior to her decision to work full-time as a therapist, Dr. McCormick has worked as a research scientist in the field of psychiatry.  Under her maiden name (Legerski), she has presented at regional, national, and international conferences resulting in co-authorship on a number of journal articles.
